Problem
Car production lines involve many complex processes managed by engineers and production managers. The older systems used to plan, assign, and monitor these processes were fragmented and hard to scale. Engineers lacked a clear way to visualize and control production or reuse existing programs efficiently. This made the entire workflow slower and harder to manage.
Process
Research
Started by researching how engineers and managers interact with existing systems to understand their pain points.
Rapid Prototyping
Built prototypes quickly to explore solutions and validate concepts early in the design process.
Weekly User Testing
Ran weekly user testing sessions to ensure the design aligned with real user needs and business requirements.
User Journey Mapping
Mapped out user journeys to understand the full production workflow and pinpoint where complexity could be reduced.
Interface Design
Designed interfaces that reduced complexity and improved clarity for technical users managing production.
Solution
We created an internal automation platform that allows engineers to build, assign, and reuse production programs for car components. It offers a structured view of configurations, tools, and system data, making it easier to manage and adapt the production process. A key feature is the Visualization tool, which helps users see how programs run across the production line.

Results
55% Faster Setup
Cut program setup time by 55%, letting engineers configure production programs far more quickly.
40% Fewer Errors
Reduced production errors by 40% through clearer workflows and reusable, structured configurations.
Faster Adaptation
Factories could adapt faster to new car details, keeping the production line responsive to change.
Higher Confidence
Engineers reported higher confidence in managing and monitoring their production workflows.
Learnings
This project improved my ability to design for technical users and complex workflows. I learned how to turn abstract production logic into intuitive UI components that support both daily tasks and strategic planning. One big challenge was balancing flexibility with structure.
